VNNIC launches an Internet and networking training program for Vietnamese students

To develop the next generation (NextGen) of Vietnam’s Internet workforce and align with a forward-looking vision for the Internet, the Vietnam Internet Network Information Center organized a training program on Internet resources and networking for university students as part of the VNNIC Internet Conference 2022, held from June 22–25, 2022, in Da Nang.

The VNNIC Internet Conference is a series of in-depth events—including workshops, seminars, and conferences—focused on Internet technologies and infrastructure, developed and hosted by VNNIC to foster and strengthen the Internet expert community. First launched in 2022, the event brought together around 300 leaders, CEOs, and top Internet experts from Vietnam and abroad, under the auspices of the Ministry of Information and Communications, connecting all segments of Vietnam’s Internet community.

Within the conference framework, VNNIC, in collaboration with the Asia Pacific Network Information Centre, delivered a dedicated training course for Vietnamese university students on Internet resources and networking. The program covered key topics including: governance and development of Vietnam’s Internet resources; an introduction to Internet Governance; personal branding in the digital environment and the role of youth in the digital era; as well as cybersecurity and DNS safety. Notably, Internet Governance remains a relatively new concept in Vietnam.

Globally, Internet Governance capacity-building initiatives for young people have become increasingly wide spread. Prominent examples include Schools on Internet Governance (SIG) models implemented in more than 20 countries, the Youth Internet Governance Forum, and the Asia Pacific Internet Governance Academy.

In Vietnam, VNNIC has developed a dedicated training program for the student community, with plans to organize it annually as part of the VNNIC Internet Conference. The initiative aims to equip young people with the knowledge and skills needed to contribute to national Internet development, while promoting a professional, dynamic, and secure online presence in connection with national Internet resources.

Participants also had the opportunity to engage with leading global Internet experts, gaining insights into emerging trends and future directions of the Internet, as well as practical perspectives on leveraging Internet resources to improve quality of life.

Selected highlights from the student training program on Internet resources and networking were also showcased during the event.
